Sensory Perception
The Sensory Perception Class instructs you on the many levels of understanding and philosophies involved in Sensory evaluation of your taste buds, the number of taste sensations, the map of the tongue, what you smell.
Wine is so easy to enjoy. Most individuals can absorb so much more quickly through
the senses that to analyze a glass of wine involves slowing down and stepping back in order to recognize and appreciate what was sensed.
Our sense of smell is closely related to our sense of taste, so the bouquet or aroma of a wine is a prelude to what we may perceive as flavor.
The most rewarding experience for the drinker comes from combining strict technique
and the pleasurable art of tasting. Acquiring technical expertise for tasting is really a matter of mastering a series of operations, which after a time become automatic.
It’s amazing how little most of us know about something we do as often as eating and drinking. In this, one of our most popular classes, I hope you will develop a new found admiration for this incredible product of nature, while tasting the differences in body, tannin and sweetness of wines.
We will explore several different regions of the world as we briefly discuss how grapes are grown and how wine is made.
The first half of the class is concentrated on how to learn to taste, smell, touch.
The second portion of this class is a concentration on the vineyard.
You will taste unique wines, sample food paired especially for these wines and leave with a keen sense of what makes wines different alone and when paired with food. And, a better understanding of what you like. While that may seem sufficient for two hours.
I want you to have more. Because, “ Wine is not just about Tasting, It’s about learning”.
Wine has been around for a millennium and should be explored and talked about. Everyone should enjoy wine on a regular basis
