Chile
Chile exports approximately ½ of its annual wine production. 20 million cases are exported and most of it is to us. Chilean wines first gained a foothold in the U.S. Market with clean, varietal correct wines at fighting varietal prices. As the cost of the land and labor is still extremely low, especially when compared to other wine producing nations. Chile’s “good value” and massive foreign investment in new state-of-the-art wineries has led to Chile’s ability to produce better and more competitive wines at all price points.
We sample wines and food unique to Chile. Carmenere is the red grape variety that is uniquely Chilean in that it sets her apart from other wine producing nations of the world. Carmenere is to Chile what Malbec is to Argentina.
